Officers of the Topeka Model United Nation Conference are responsible for how the councils function and debate throughout the two-day experience. You will need to make sure you are prepared for parliamentary procedure inquires, current event questions, understand the United Nations scope of power and deal with administrational duties that are key to running a council. Ultimately, it falls on the officers to guide discussion in a constructive and respectful way so that the delegates are introduced to new ways of thinking about politics, international relations, and the United Nations role in all of it.
As secretary general you will be the face of all the student run councils and the main point of contact for all delegates and officers throughout the year. That means you will need to make sure that you understand current political events, have a working knowledge of parliamentary procedure, strong public speaking and problem solving skills. Additionally you will be give tasks from the TMUN staff that you will need to carry out in order for key aspects of the conference to be planned effectively.
